At the end of January/beginning of February 2021 our training partner Dr. Stephan Rein will once again offer the two online courses "Bareos Level 1 and Level 2".
We've just released a new version: Bareos 20 includes, among other things, a new plugin to back up cloud storage objects directly via the S3 interface, a modernized Python API and a preview of the new REST API.

What's going on in the Bareos universe? Well, apart from our new Security Policy, we've released some new plugins for the Bareos File Daemon, we've improved the Storage Daemon, and the WebUI.
In the first two weeks of September 2020 we're offering two Bareos online courses in English language. Level 1 takes place from August, 31 to September, 4, Level 2 from September, 8 to 10. Both courses are half-day workshops.
We've just published three new Bareos versions: 19.2.8, 18.2.9, and 17.2.10. The updates fix two security issues, which – especially in combination with each other – can become a serious problem.
In June 2020 we're offering two online workshops on Bareos. Level 1 takes place from June, 22 to 26, Level 2 from June, 24 to 26. Both courses are half-day workshops.
With new plug-ins for oVirt and Percona XtraBackup and a new tool for converting the Bareos catalog database from MySQL to PostgreSQL, the final version of Bareos 19.2.5 is available.
Let's talk about Backup! That's this year's Open Source Camp motto. The Call for Papers for the conference in Berlin (on June, 19, 2020) is open now: We're looking for case studies, reports on migration scenarios and other backup topics.

On September 26, 2018, backup specialists from all over the world met in Cologne to discuss the innovations in Bareos 18.2, the backup of Elasticsearch indices, ReaR automated testing with Bareos and other topics.
The first release candidate of Bareos 18.2 is available for download now. We've published packages for all supported Linux distributions as well as Windows packages on our servers. As usual, you can get the source code of all Bareos components from the GitHub repository.
The new Bareos 17.2 maintenance version contains bugfixes and adds support for Fedora 27/28, OpenSUSE 15, Ubuntu 18.04 and Univention Corporate Server 4.3
The first opsi client management conference will take place in Mainz on March 6th and 7th, 2018. Bareos will be represented at the conference as a technology partner and will contribute to the programme with a talk on the integration of Bareos and opsi. The event will also focus on opsi 4.1 and the community process. In lectures and workshops, participants can make themselves familiar with the basics of OPSI, learn about advanced applications or take up best practice recommendations.

Every year, IT professionals and software developers of Open Source solutions meet at the Univention Summit in Bremen to discuss the latest developments in the field of open source, present their products and make new contacts. Bareos is also represented every year at the Univention Summit with a booth or lecture on the topic of backup with Open Source software.
The new major release is published. Especially users with large environments will benefit from faster backups. Also new is the NDMP 2-Way-backup support as well as centralized and de-centralized backups in distributed networks.

The Open Source Backup Conference, which specializes in open source backup solutions, takes place from the 25th to the 26th of September 2017 in Cologne. Potential speakers may hand in their suggestions for talks until June 30th via the conference website. The sale of the Early Bird tickets has also been prolonged until the end of June.
